Explainer: The Anti-Defamation League

The ADL is a US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the stated mission of combating antisemitism and other forms of prejudice. It is an influential voice with governments, media outlets, schools, law enforcement agencies, and the private sector. Since the 1970s, the ADL has become increasingly vocal in its backing of Israel, promoting the notion of a “new antisemitism” which includes anti-Zionism.
