The ADL was founded in 1913 with the stated mission of combating antisemitism and other forms of prejudice. It's an influential voice with governments, media outlets, schools, law enforcement agencies, and the private sector. However since the 1970s, the ADL has become increasingly right-wing and vocal in its backing of Israel, promoting the notion of a “new antisemitism” which includes anti-Zionism and criticism of Israel.
